Parade: Block Party Signature Canvassing

*Update - Date change* Volunteers will walk the neighborhoods near the location of the Capital Pride Block Party to gather signatures in support of the event. Volunteers will canvas May 21 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

Parade: Staging Marshal

Volunteers will assist contingents with entering the staging areas and lining up in their designated area.

Volunteers will assist the set up and management of the announcement stand.

Parade: Accessibility Coordinators

Volunteers will help ensure Pride is accessible to the whole community. Volunteers will provide assistance to individuals with disabilities and access and functional needs when requested. Tasks include: escorting individuals with mobility disabilities safely along the parade route; serving as a sighted guide to orient individuals to the event space; reading written information to individuals who are blind or low vision; ensuring individuals with disabilities are able to access ADA sections; working with security to ensure individuals with disabilities access ADA sections when necessary.

Parade: Route Marshal

Volunteers will encourage contingents to keep pace with the parade when they notice gaps, assist with connecting bike racks along the route, and make sure parade spectators keep the route clear.

Parade: Dispersement Marshal

Volunteers will direct contingents on how to clear the route once they come to the end of the parade. Walkers are to be instructed to disperse at R Street, NW going east and west. Floats are to be instructed to drive past S Street, NW and make sure large and obtrusive items are removed from vehicles so that they are road-ready.

Festival: Operations Team

Volunteers will have an active hand in supporting the festival guest experience including:  

  • Exhibitor Support 
  • Safety
  • Assist with volunteer check-in and providing general information at the Information Booth 


All festival volunteers will check-in at the volunteer tent located at 4th St. NW & Pennsylvania Ave. NW (in between the east and west buildings of the National Gallery of Art).

PNC Bank - Volunteer Teller

This position is for PNC Bank employees to sign up to assist Capital Pride with counting cash that is collected at the Festival. Your primary role will be counting cash, strapping the cash, and filling deposit bags. The position is located in an air conditioned trailer so you will be out of the hot June heat. If you are signing up and your branch can spare a currency counter that would be very helpful.

This position is our opening position. The work is light, but you will be responsible for filling cash drawers, making change and counting deposits as they come in.

Be a part of our bucket brigade and help us collect donations during the festival! Volunteers will be given a collection bucket and stationed at the entrance of the festival or near the information booth at 6th St. & Pennsylvania Ave.

Festival: Growth Team

Volunteers will assist with ticket sales, entry wristbands and overall beverage garden experience. Volunteers will be assigned to one of the beverage gardens.
